Who We Treat

We offer therapy for adolescents, children, and adults of all ages. We work with individuals, groups, couples, families, and parents. Browse our site and contact us for a free consultation about our services.

Children

We offer play therapy for children ages 3 -10 who experience behavioral difficulties or simply need extra help “finding their feelings.” Because children learn through play, child centered play therapy helps them discover and develop their feelings vocabulary and apply this in their lives. This early intervention can set them up with a solid foundation as they mature emotionally.

When old enough, children may add to their “toolkit” from therapies such as cognitive behavior therapy for anxiety and depression, exposure-response prevention for OCD and phobias. Expressive therapies (art, music, etc.) help them learn to be mindful and develop emotion regulation skills.

Adolescents

Adolescence is a complicated time of having one foot rooted in childhood and the other foot increasingly pointed toward adulthood. Many developmental changes are happening and this period can be a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows. These changes can be exciting for teens and scary at times for parents (sometimes for the teens too).

In the process of becoming independent, teens can experience challenges like anxiety, depression, bullying, suicidal ideation, self-harm, ADHD, and issues with self-esteem, eating, or substance use. Social media and related pressures can cause teens to feel both connected and lonely at the same time. Therapists at Wise Mind understand (and really like!) adolescents and the challenges they face. We offer both individual and group therapy for teens.

Young Adults

Young adulthood brings fresh starts and possibilities yet many young adults report feeling “caught in between,” and “fearful of adulting.”

In addition to helping young adults with emotional and behavioral concerns, we also work with them on college challenges, career and job choices, identifying values and belief systems, navigating new relationships, and becoming independent and self-sufficient. We enjoy being able to help emerging adults find their footing in adulthood more easily.

Parent Support

Kids don’t come with user manuals! Parenting can be one of the most joyous experiences as well as the most challenging. From the toddler to teenage years and beyond, emotions and behaviors can show up that leave the most seasoned parents mystified and needing support.

As Dr. Benjamin Spock said years ago, “you know more than you think you do.” But you can also benefit from the experience and tools we’ve gained by working with kids of all ages. Our therapists can help you create a roadmap to reduce conflicts with your child and chart a course back toward positive relationships.

Adults

Adults come to therapy for a host of reasons. The responsibilities and stressors of adulthood can easily feel overwhelming. Some adults are looking to explore patterns of behavior they want to understand or change. Others are experiencing planned or unplanned life changes such as childbirth, job changes, death of a loved one, divorce, financial issues, becoming empty nesters. Sometimes people want to address mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, or the physical and emotional issues aging brings. Relationship issues are a frequent reason people contact us. Regardless the reason, it can be both rewarding and helpful to have a person to confide in who isn’t a family member or friend. We’re here to help with individual, family, couples’ therapy, and parenting support for adults.
